The new owners stripped this three-bed terrace back to brick, which is the perfect time to rewire. The old wiring was a mix of 1960s cable and later DIY extensions, with lights and sockets sharing circuits.
First fix and second fix
We worked alongside the builder. First fix: new cables chased into the walls and run under the floors before the plasterers arrived. Second fix: sockets, switches and lights fitted once the walls were skimmed and painted. We planned socket positions with the owners room by room, so there are USB sockets by the beds, a dedicated circuit for the home office and outside sockets for the garden.
The result
Eleven new circuits, a new consumer unit, every circuit tested and certified, and Building Control notified. The owners moved in to a house that won’t need touching for decades.
